Diamer-Bhasha Dam benifits & Importance to build

Pakistan on Tuesday gave a final go-ahead to th e construction of Diamer-Bhasha dam at an estimated cost of Rs.474 billion aimed at increasing the country’s depleting water storage capacity. After a delay of almost 25 years, Diamer-Bhasha dam has finally been cleared for funding by Central Development Working Party (CDWP). CDWP has forwarded the project to Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) and the project is now awaiting a final approval. The dam will be the first major reservoir that will be built since the 1960s. The reservoir will be built at an initial cost of Rs 625 billion, excluding the electricity generation part of the project. The project faced many delays due to funding and ownership issues between provinces. The government even proposed to include it in CPEC projects.   Water is God gifted natural resource; our body is 90 per dependent upon it. Water pollution or water shortage is the biggest problem facing Pakistan now days. Pakistan is an agricultural country and its economy depends on agriculture; our villages are facing this problem of water scarcity for the last several years. People travel miles for the sake of water. Not in villages but also in cities like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad water is polluted and not available. People of Karachi are facing severe shortage of water. Every year floods destroy our crops and villages. If government makes new dam, we can save that water for irrigation, electricity and for drinking. 40 % deaths are attributed to drinking polluted water that brings different diseases in human beings, like diarrhoea typhoid, hepatitis, as the sanitation problem is the biggest problem. Toyota recalls more than 1 million hybrid cars for the risk of fire. Toyota is recalling more than 1 million of its hybrid vehicles worldwide over a potential fire risk.  The automaker said Wednesday that the safety recall covers its Prius, Prius plug-in hybrid and C-HR SUV models and is intended to repair a problem with their electrical systems, which in some cases can cause fires. More than half of the affected vehicles are in Japan, while just under 200,000 are in the United States. The rest were sold in Europe and other markets. US drivers will start receiving recall notices by mail this month. Toyota said the problem involved wire harnesses that connect to the cars' power control units. These can wear away over time, generating heat. "If sufficient heat is generated, there is an increased risk of a vehicle fire," a Toyota spokesman in Tokyo told CNN on Wednesday. He declined to comment on whether the defects have resulted in any injuries or dea
